Powers/Weaknesses:
• Pyrokinesis-Ability to create and control fire with the power of his mind. The one downfall to pyrokinesis is that it is easy to get lost in the adrenaline rush of controlling the fire and get ‘swallowed’ up by its power.
• Fire/Heat resistance-Neither fire nor heat affect him while colder climates seem to affect him slightly more than the average person. Also, when he is touching somebody he can make it so the fire does not affect them if he wishes. It is thought that because pyrokinesis is a psychic mutation the ability to make others immune to fire through touch is also a mental power.
• Feral-like abilities-His strength, eyesight, agility and reflexes are better than that of an average human’s. He also has a good sense of balance.
Personality: Merric is always worried about causing a repeat of the night his mutation surfaced and seems deeply troubled by whatever exactly happened that night; it is the one subject that can get him to quickly lose his temper. He is even-tempered and has a sense of humor that creates a mischievous streak in him. His anger is hard to rouse but when it is, it can be as fierce and fiery as what his codename represents. Because of his fear of harming someone again, Merric keeps himself from getting too close or attached too people but that doesn’t stop him from being fiercely loyal to who or what he cares about.
History: Merric lived in an orphanage until the age of seven when he was adopted by Marion Colville, a woman who could not have any children of her own. She raised him as if he were her own, making sure he was given the chance to pursue any hobbies that struck his interest. His powers surfaced late (not until the summer before he started college) and when they did, they surfaced full-force and without warning. Lost in the adrenaline rush of his pyrokinetic gift, the fire was out of control and spread until it burnt down his home with his mother inside. He does not speak of that night or what caused his powers to surface so the exact circumstances around it remain a secret. With his only home in ruins, Merric ran away to the city and found a job, all the while pretending to be an average human.
